Thunder Wrestling

Michael is in Wrestling at Westlake HS. They offer a class to kids to build up the program. He LOVES it, and is really good. Unlike the other sports we have put him in, he asks to go and tells me how happy he is to do it. He use to always grab other kids in baseball and soccer, we had to work on the hands to yourself rule. But here he gets to grab, push, and pull. Just look at the grin.

They always start with warmups. Running, rolls, stretching. Here are his forward and back rolls. He is getting better.

Next they do some drills. In this one, they are suppose to their stance and circling. Michael looks like he is dancing, but you can tell he likes it.

Finally, they work on wrestling. The object of this game is to push your opponent out, or take them down. I guess that is how they score. Last week all the parent's were laughing because when Michael gets ready, he often wiggles his fingers because he is so excited to grab the other boys. In this match he even watches the lines and circles to make sure he stays in. GOOD JOB BUB!

That is awesome...it's always fun to find a sport they love! Way to go Michael! You should put him in Judo...I did it for a while, it's way fun and they compete in tournaments too. It's a lot like wrestling, it's typically called "oriental wrestling".
